There was something more important happening on Monday than US President Obama being handed a pint of Guinness in a pub in Ireland—never mind the ass idiocy of the Irish media. Following the sad episode of ass-licking, several security ‘experts’, including one US official, were asked on a live TV3 broadcast as to what would happen to any US President who was in a situation of ‘national security’. The President would have, it was said, been grabbed by the scruff of his neck and dragged off willingly or unwillingly to a safe place. That is the statute book response. OK. Cast your mind back. Do you recall President Bush II, sitting before a class of schoolchildren, when a security official approached him, whispered in his ear, and then walked away. Mr Bush sat in front of the class for a further 20 minutes, during which, allegedly, hijacked aircraft not only ploughed into the two towers of the World Trade Centre but also into the Pentagon. Not an emergency really. Well, no, of course not. Not if it was already known about anyway ... |
