The continuing attack on civil freedoms
10 Mar 2013: posted by the editor - Human Rights, Opinion, United Kingdom

Any state that deploys mandatory retention of private electronic communications is guilty of sliding deeper into the practice of oppression and repression of its people.

Talks involving mandatory retention of all electronic communications—fax, telephone, email and internet use—have been ongoing behind closed doors by EU leaders for years.

Britain now appears poised on the brink of introducing and 'normalizing' the use of secret courts through a parliamentary Bill that claims to be seeking to tackle 'terrorism'. It is a well worn lie that is again being wheeled out.

Such a move will in one go obliterate any pretense to open and democratically approved justice in the UK courts.
