Variety Magazine rejects anti-apartheid ad @ 21 Feb 2016
Variety Magazine, generally regarded as the most important paper in the entertainment industry, has rejected an advertisement placed and paid for by www.endtheoccupation.org and Jewish Voices For Peace, saying its anti-apartheid message is “too sensitive” and that it “would need to have a softer tone.”

Those placing the ad said that Variety Magazine accepted payment on Thursday, February 18, but then late on Friday, February 19, they were informed that the ad had been rejected.

Ramah Kudaimi said: “This is a clear act of censorship by Variety, which has in the past published ads like the one below with very clear strong language. The difference with our ad? It is in support of Palestinian rights and freedom.”

The groups are npow trying to place rejected the ad in other publications, to draw the attention of the showbiz industry to what it says is Israeli apartheid against Palestinians.
