He would never stand down but would die a martyr, he loudly proclaimed. The only martyrdom he might find in death is through the eyes of his besotted followers, most of whom stood to gain by his despotic rule over the decades.
Colonel Gaddafi will be rememberd for his tyrannical rule, his oppression and his repression of the Libyan people and, more recently, his callous violent treatment of those bravely protesting against his dictatorship.
