Day Honey Bee Appeal to raise cash for Tsunami rebuilding campaign
Ireland's
Limerick-based Third World charity Bóthar has
dedicated its annual Valentine’s Day
appeal to its rebuilding projects in the tsunami stricken regions, where it already
has ground staff.
The charity’s message is “Spread the sweetness this Valentine's day
and give a Bóthar Valentine Card to someone special on February 14”.
This year is a very special year for the Bóthar "Bee My Honey" campaign
as all the proceeds from it will be going to Post Tsunami Rebuilding
appeal.
Thousands of homes have been destroyed and tens of thousands of people are now dead due to the disaster that hit Asia on 26" December 2004. Now these people have lost everything and have no way of feeding or taking care of their families.
Working with our international partners and local NGO's, Bóthar is there helping families to rebuild their lives. Having established goat, pig and poultry projects in Indonesia during 2004, we aiready have the infrastructure of personnel there and in several of the other affected countries to ensure your support gets to where it is most needed.
The gift of an animal is truly a life-saving gift and continues to support a family long after the emergency funds have stopped. The produce from Bóthar animals whether it be milk, cheese or eggs supply a family with a source of nutrition, but that's not all, they can sell whatever is left over for a little income. This income allows the family to buy other foodstuffs and even medicine and essential supplies. Bóthar also provides ongoing training and full veterinary backup for each family. But the most important thing is that the family must agree to 'pass-on' the gift of an animal to another needy family, ensuring your gift grows and grows.
