The January 2015 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering takes place on Tuesday 13 January 2015 at The Loft Venue, the Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. This month guest readers are short story writer Eddie Stack and poet Margaret M Glasgow, who will be launching her new poetry collection.

Eddie Stack is from west Clare and teaches at UC Berkeley in CA. He has published a fourth collection of short stories last year titled Borderline and has received several accolades for his fiction, including an American Small Press of the Year Award, and a Top 100 Irish American Award. Recognised as an outstanding short story writer, he is the author of three previous collections of short stories-The West, Out of the Blue and Quare Hawks; HEADS, a novel, and The Irish, three novellas.

His work has appeared in literary reviews and anthologies worldwide, including Fiction, Confrontation, Whispers & Shouts, Southwords and Criterion; State of the Art: Stories from New Irish Writers; Irish Christmas Stories, The Clare Anthology and Fiction in the Classroom.

He was shortlisted by RTE and published in their short story anthology, A Page In The Life , which was also broadcast and recorded on CD. He was shortlisted for a Hennessy Award, and by Readers' Digest for a flash fiction in 2012. His work has appeared in the From The Well short story anthology, 2014, the New Irish Writing Page, Orbis, The Cork Yule Book, and the Sligo Champion.

Margaret Mary Glasgow is a Limerick poet. A granddaughter of a former Mayor of Limerick, Frank Glasgow, she is intensely proud of her Limerick heritage.

Her poetry journey began during her primary school years when she regularly submitted to the Evening Press, where she developed her love of the English language. Nature, nurture, family, faith and life experience are the foundation stones of her first poetry collection Flowers and Thorns of Life.

Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . Even if you don't write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free. So join us on the night and make this event something special.
