Author Donal Ryan, who wrote the award winning novels The Spinning Heart and The Thing About December, inaugurated a commemorative plaque to Frank McCourt in South’s Pub on Quinlan Street, Friday 17th July at 1.00pm.
The event took place on the approach to the fifth anniversary of his death and was organised by The Limerick Writers’ Centre.
The event also saw the welcome return back to Limerick of Frank McCourt’s brother Alphie McCourt, author of A Long Stone's Throw and The Soulswimmer, who represented the McCourt family at the event.
The Limerick Writers’ Centre’s project is to develop the Limerick Literary Trail as a resource for the city, its citizens and visitors.
