Visit the Newmedianews website for Irish news, world news and humour. The site is a development of an independent news agency that was started in 1970s. Headlines for main news items are updated at regular intervals and users can provide feedback via letters and a survey form.

This website provides a wide range of information in an easy to navigate format. With regularly updated news, the site provides a useful information resource. However, the design of the site could be a little better - the colour scheme is varied and the layout is confused at times. With further effort put into the design aspects, this could be an excellent site

I is always pleased when someone take the time to write a constructive review chomp chaw chomp who stuck this straw up me ? Ah - all things move on and progress and Newsmedianews is no exception, from its conception and origins as a news portal to its present day format as a mixture of news, direct news input and entertainment.

I note and take pride in the Doras reviewer's comment that the site is easy to navigate and "provides a useful information resource". At the same time I have looked for confusion in the layout (without much success I must admit) and my intention to provide a varied colour scheme is deliberate. Variety is the spice of life and I find those who adhere to uniformity predictably boring.

Having said that, the site is subject to my constant attention and where improvement is seen as needed, it is applied. I warmly welcome feedback and suggestions.

Golden Web Award year Two and Three and Four
Yes this site has gained a Golden Web award for the third year, having won the first award during the site's own innagural year.

Site owner Keith Harris said: "As an independent freelance journalist I know just how difficult it can be for someone to make headway from scratch at working successfully on the Internet and I feel pleased that this award goes some way to recognise the hours put into the site.

"It is also a pertinent incentive to try and maintain standards on the site."

News site nets award

AN EYE-CATCHING website has earned its Limerick-based designer a top award. The website, which contains a comprehensive news service, stood out from among 380 million other web sites in existence today to claim the 2000-2001 Global Web Award.

Journalist Keith Harris designed the site without any prior experience of web design.

"I just started learning everything I could about web design. It was basically a case of trial and error," said Mr Harris, who's lived in Limerick since 1996.

"The most difficult thing was designing the front page which comprises all the links," the English-born newsman said.

The site at www.newsmedianews.com has 17 news links on the front page, including Irish news, world news, media, music and humour.

About 18,000 people have surfed the site site it was set up last August.

Mr Harris hopes the award attracts some recruits to help him run the site as he said that updating the web pages continuously was a full time occupation.

He hopes running the site, on which Sky News, BBC on-line and ITN feature, will become financially profitable in about a year's time.

The Goldenweb Award is awarded for excellence of design and content worthy of recognition and is presented by the International Association of Web Masters and Designers.
