Shannonwatch is organising a protest at the Shannon Airport on July 18 during the Air Display taking place that day.
Ireland’s Peace & Neutrality Alliance (PANA) is supporting the protest and is calling on all its affiliated groups to support Shannonwatch.
Roger Cole, Chair of PANA said: “Since 2002 over 2.5 million US troops have used Shannon Airport on their way to and from the perpetual wars of the US. The US/EU/NATO wars on Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria and their de facto destruction of these states have just led to more war and created ISIS. Not only have successive Irish governments terminated Irish neutrality with its new war policy, it has not even worked, and shows no sign of ever working. Their decision to refuse to allow the Irish people on two recent occasions to even vote on whether or not they support neutrality is a real indication of this governments commitment to perpetual war by continuing to allow Shannon Airport be a de facto US Airforce base, regardless of the possible horrific consequences.
“PANA supports the Shannowatch protest on 18 July.”
