IMF - They Call It Democracy

“It’s not hard to bring out the worst in large numbers of citizens by constantly pressing their buttons; fear, hate, greed, false pride and blind loyalty are the main emotions used to manipulate people so much these last years. Reversing this process and empowering people through courage, love, generosity, humility and critical thinking is harder but it can and must be done.” -- Coleen Rowley for RootsAction; FBI whistle blower

What is what and who is who and who cares what if who is not, said the reflection to the shadow.

Israel
“The deplorable and fanatical organization Amnesty International has once again produced a fabricated report that is entirely false and based on lies,” Israel’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It appears that anyone who attempts to say anything critical of Israel regardless of any truth underlying such criticism is a liar and is anti-semitic.

Best to date Ireland Olympic team to be welcomed home today       printable version
12 Aug 2024: posted by the editor - Sport, Ireland

Ireland's most successful Olympic team to date will be welcomed back home today.

Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin TD, and Minister of State for Sport, Physical Education and the Gaeltacht, Thomas Byrne TD today welcome home the 133 athletes who competed for Ireland in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The 64 women and 69 men competed across 14 sports, winning 7 Medals, posting personal and seasonal bests in many cases as well as progressing in their individual competitions.

Minister Martin said: “Team Ireland has made the nation so proud, our most successful team ever at an Olympic Games. Over these past few weeks, thousands of Irish supporters travelled to France to loudly cheer on the team and it was clear that our athletes greatly appreciated this support.  Back home in Ireland, there has also been great support for our athletes every step of the way. I want to congratulate everyone who has been involved in this endeavour from the athletes to the coaches, the sporting bodies, the Olympic Federation through to the Sport Ireland Institute and beyond.

This success has been a credit to our athletes’ dedication, and the support of their families, coaches and communities. This fantastic achievement also demonstrates the value of the continued and sustained investment into our sporting system. We have invested at all levels, from the high performance system right on down to the grassroots community level and we will continue to build on that investment in the years to come, to provide our athletes with the support they deserve.”

Minister Byrne said: “This has been the most successful Olympic Games for Ireland. We sent our biggest ever team to the Paris Games, and they have returned with our greatest ever medal haul. That is an outstanding achievement and I want to congratulate each member of Team Ireland on their performance. We have seen national records set in sports like athletics and swimming. We have reached finals and the latter stages in sports and disciplines where we have never been in serious contention before. This has been a terrific Olympic Games for Ireland. I also want to thank the French people for hosting such a fantastic Games.

What we have seen in Paris represents the very best of a strong Irish sports system that is delivering for a diversity of sports. I want to offer my sincere thanks to the team behind Team Ireland, from family members and friends, to volunteers and supporters, along with countless more. I also want to recognise and commend the Olympic Federation of Ireland, Sport Ireland and my Department for their dedicated work in supporting our high performance athletes and sporting community.”

Who overcomes by force, hath overcome but half his foe.”
John Milton

                                                     Origins of Poverty
When man came on earth he did not live in a society or hierarchy nor was he endowed with poverty. Good health, longevity, natural cheerfulness were his own even as he found himself amidst plenty. Like other species he lived or perished as the external resources permitted but he lived or perished as a group. Only when the society organised itself into a hierarchy, it was possible for one layer to exist while another persisted during times of scarcity. Organised ways of living, knowledge of all descriptions, systems created for comfort etc. interfered with the natural living of MAN in hundreds of ways. With the passing of time these stratifications of society come to stay and even create a psychology by which even the victim takes his victimization for granted. No question arises in his mind. ...

Had not the society organised itself in such a way that segments of it are protected and other segments were defenseless, MAN would have remained as MAN and would not have been bifurcated into poor and rich.

“Man was always destroying things, and beautiful things.
At the time they wouldn’t seem beautiful.
It was only afterwards that men felt pity for the things their hands had destroyed.”
