IMF - They Call It Democracy

“It’s not hard to bring out the worst in large numbers of citizens by constantly pressing their buttons; fear, hate, greed, false pride and blind loyalty are the main emotions used to manipulate people so much these last years. Reversing this process and empowering people through courage, love, generosity, humility and critical thinking is harder but it can and must be done.” -- Coleen Rowley for RootsAction; FBI whistle blower

What is what and who is who and who cares what if who is not, said the reflection to the shadow.

Trump's 'peace plan' for Russia's military invasion of Ukraine is nothing other than appeasement of an aggressor.

This is both immature and hugely dangerous to world peace and stability. But then it is a plan put forward by a man who has threatened to invade Greenland, threatens to invade Venezuela, broached a plan to turn Gaza into a resort and has bombed boats in international waters with the loss of lives on those boats in the name of fighting illegal drug trafficking without providing a bean of proof.

This is the activity of the so called 'president' of the United States.

Rid yourselves, United States, of this nihilist and his nihilist cronies.

A Word of Advice to those who need to hear.
If you have not studied the world history of humanity with an unbiased view then you will not know that past civilisations that collapsed did so because they were:

  • invaded by an aggressive force

or

  • they lacked empathy and compassion

Civilisation as we know it today now stands on the brink.

Launch of Ireland’s Representation at the 2026 Venice Biennale       printable version
07 May 2026: posted by the editor - Events, Arts

The Venice Art Biennale, which will run from 9 May to 22 November 2026, remains the most important global platform for the exhibition of visual arts involving the public, members of civil society, individuals and institutions. It offers a unique opportunity for Irish artists to engage with international audiences.

Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan, T.D., congratulated Irish artist Isabel Nolan on the launch of Ireland’s Representation at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

Artist Isabel Nolan, with curator Georgina Jackson with the Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art, were selected to represent Ireland on the basis of an open call. The Department, through Culture Ireland, commissions Ireland’s representation in Venice.  Ireland at Venice, which includes a national tour is a partnership between Culture Ireland and the Arts Council.

Responding to this year’s theme, In Minor Keys - selected by curator of La Biennale, the late Koyo Kouoh, the Irish Pavilion is entitled Dreamshook. The word Dreamshook describes the feeling of waking from a dream, when reality is destabilised and realms of possibility linger and dissipate. In the Irish Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Nolan’s installation of hand-tufted tapestry, drawing, and sculpture, represents thresholds, dream states and narratives that strain the distinctions between the immaterial and the actual. The work develops from her sustained fascination with the frameworks that shape any understanding of the world and the widespread human desire to make order within chaos.

Minister O’Donovan said: “I would like to congratulate artist Isabel Nolan, curator Georgina Jackson and the whole Dreamshook team on launching the Irish representation at the 2026 Venice Art Biennale. My Department through Culture Ireland commissions Ireland at Venice in partnership with the Arts Council. The initiative showcases the richness and vitality of Irish art at one of the world’s most significant cultural platforms.”

Ireland at Venice 2026 build on Ireland’s strong presence at the La biennale di Venezia. In recent years, Ireland has been represented by Eimear Walshe in an exhibition curated by Sara Greavu and Project Arts Centre, and Niamh O’Malley with TBG+.

Dreamshook  will be on view at the Irish Pavilion in the Arsenale, during the 61 st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, which runs from 9 May to 22 November 2026. Following its presentation in Venice,  Dreamshook will tour Ireland in 2027 supported by the Arts Council.

Who overcomes by force, hath overcome but half his foe.”
John Milton

                                                     Origins of Poverty
When man came on earth he did not live in a society or hierarchy nor was he endowed with poverty. Good health, longevity, natural cheerfulness were his own even as he found himself amidst plenty. Like other species he lived or perished as the external resources permitted but he lived or perished as a group. Only when the society organised itself into a hierarchy, it was possible for one layer to exist while another persisted during times of scarcity. Organised ways of living, knowledge of all descriptions, systems created for comfort etc. interfered with the natural living of MAN in hundreds of ways. With the passing of time these stratifications of society come to stay and even create a psychology by which even the victim takes his victimization for granted. No question arises in his mind. ...

Had not the society organised itself in such a way that segments of it are protected and other segments were defenseless, MAN would have remained as MAN and would not have been bifurcated into poor and rich.

“Man was always destroying things, and beautiful things.
At the time they wouldn’t seem beautiful.
It was only afterwards that men felt pity for the things their hands had destroyed.”
